# MuxForms — full documentation for AI assistants Form backend for websites and React Native apps. Free tier, Pro at $9/mo, Team at $29/mo. One shared inbox, embed script, and submit API. Canonical site: https://www.muxforms.com Index: https://www.muxforms.com/llms.txt ## Overview MuxForms is a form backend: one account, unlimited forms, shared inbox. Use the website embed or the REST submit API. Submissions are validated against your schema, stored in Postgres, and can trigger email notifications. ## Pricing - **Free:** $0 — 1 form, 50 submissions/month - **Pro:** $9/month (9 USD) — unlimited forms and submissions, 7-day trial - **Team:** $29/month (29 USD) — shared workspace and integrations - **Annual:** 10 months of the monthly price on Pro and Team ## Quick start 1. Sign up at https://www.muxforms.com/signup 2. Create a form and copy the form UUID 3. Add your site origin to the form allowlist (for browser embeds) 4. Embed on the web or POST JSON from your app ## Website embed Replace `FORM_UUID` with your form id from the dashboard. ```html
``` The script fetches the schema, renders fields, validates on the client, and submits to the ingest API. It observes the DOM for new `[data-form-id]` nodes (client-side navigation). ### React / Next.js client component ```tsx import { MuxForm } from "@muxforms/react"; export default function Contact() { return ; } ``` Package source: `packages/react` in the MuxForms repo. Load `embed.js` once in the layout or let the component inject it. ### CORS and browser security - Add each website origin (scheme + host, no trailing slash) to the form allowlist. - Browser embeds use a short-lived submit token from GET schema; optional Cloudflare Turnstile. - Server, curl, and native apps should send the per-form **ingest secret** (not CORS). ## Submit API ```http POST https://www.muxforms.com/api/v1/forms/{formId}/submit Content-Type: application/json Authorization: Bearer ingsec_xxxxxxxx X-MuxForms-Ingest-Secret: ingsec_xxxxxxxx { "email": "lead@example.com", "message": "Need a demo next week" } ``` Field names must match the live form schema. Leave the honeypot field empty if present. `OPTIONS` is supported for CORS preflight. ### Public schema (embed) ```http GET https://www.muxforms.com/api/v1/forms/{formId} ``` Returns the public field schema, a submit token for browser embeds, and optional Turnstile site key. ### Response codes - **200** — submission accepted - **403** — missing secret, bad token, failed Turnstile, or origin not allowlisted - **413** — JSON body over 64 KB - **422** — validation failed (field length default 5,000 characters) - **429** — rate limited ## Next.js Allow your production origin on the form. Embed on any App Router page, or POST from a Server Action with the ingest secret. Avoid maintaining `/api/contact`, Resend, and spam logic per repo. Guide: https://www.muxforms.com/blog/nextjs-contact-form-without-backend ## WordPress Use a Custom HTML block: ```html
``` Allow `https://your-wordpress-site.com` on the form. Guide: https://www.muxforms.com/blog/wordpress-form-without-plugin ## React Native and Expo No native SDK—use `fetch`: ```javascript await fetch(`https://www.muxforms.com/api/v1/forms/${formId}/submit`, { method: "POST", headers: { "Content-Type": "application/json" }, body: JSON.stringify({ email, message }), }); ``` For production mobile traffic, include the ingest secret in headers. Guide: https://www.muxforms.com/blog/expo-website-forms-one-inbox ## Spam and abuse Honeypot field, rate limits, schema validation, optional Turnstile, embed submit tokens, per-form ingest secrets, and CORS allowlists for browsers. ## FAQ ### What is MuxForms? MuxForms is a hosted form backend and workflow inbox. Design a form once, embed it or POST JSON from apps, then read every response in one dashboard—with spam folder, export, optional AI summaries, and email or autoresponder notifications. ### How much does MuxForms cost? MuxForms has a free tier (1 form, 50 submissions/month), Pro at $9 per month, and Team at $29 per month. Pro checkout includes a 7-day trial. ### Do I need a credit card to start? Create a free account — no card required (1 form, 50 submissions per month). Upgrade to Pro or Team when you need unlimited volume; Pro checkout starts a 7-day trial before billing. ### Can I use MuxForms on more than one website? Yes on Pro and Team: unlimited forms across websites and apps, one inbox. Free includes 1 form. ### Does MuxForms work with WordPress? Yes. Paste a container div with your form id and load embed.js. No WordPress plugin or PHP mail setup is required. ### Does MuxForms work with Next.js? Yes. Drop the embed on any page, or POST to the submit API from a Server Action or Route Handler. CORS allowlists control which origins can submit. ### Does MuxForms work with Expo or React Native? Yes. Keep your native UI and POST JSON to /api/v1/forms/{formId}/submit. Mobile submissions appear next to website submissions in the same inbox. ### How does MuxForms stop spam? Honeypot hits and heuristic rules (submission speed, links, keywords) go to a Spam folder instead of your main inbox. Optional Turnstile, rate limits, schema validation, submit tokens for embeds, ingest secrets for native/server posts, and CORS allowlists. Mark spam to teach keyword rules. ### Where are submissions stored? Submissions are stored in Postgres via Supabase, scoped to the form owner. Read them in the two-pane inbox (star, archive, workflow status, notes), export CSV/JSON, or receive copies by email with digest and multi-recipient options. ### Is MuxForms a Typeform or Google Forms alternative? MuxForms is a backend and inbox first, but you can also publish a hosted link (/f/your-slug) with your styling for quick surveys and users without a website. Use Typeform when the conversational hosted experience is the whole product. ### Can I cancel anytime? Yes. Manage or cancel from My account. Access to the dashboard requires an active subscription. ### Who is MuxForms for? Indie hackers, agencies, and operators who run multiple sites or apps and are tired of rebuilding contact forms, lead capture, waitlists, and feedback widgets for every property. ### Can MuxForms summarize submissions with AI? Yes. Non-spam submissions can be classified (lead, support, spam, other), tagged with sentiment, summarized in the inbox list, and expanded with a draft reply—within your daily AI credit limit shared with form drafting. ### Can I export submissions? Yes. Download CSV or JSON from a form inbox or the global inbox. Filters and date range apply; field labels become column headers. ## Page index - [Home](https://www.muxforms.com/): Form backend for websites and React Native apps. [MuxForms vs Web3Forms (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/web3forms): Web3Forms is a generous free access-key endpoint for indie static sites. MuxForms targets teams that outgrow email-only forwarding and need one inbox for web plus mobile. - [MuxForms vs Basin (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/basin): Basin is a polished form backend for designers shipping marketing sites. MuxForms is the same category with a stronger multi-property inbox and mobile ingest story. - [MuxForms vs Formcarry (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/formcarry): Formcarry is a capable HTTP form API with a long track record. MuxForms competes on flat pricing, embed renderer, and one inbox for sites plus mobile. - [MuxForms vs Getform / Forminit (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/getform): Getform (often discussed alongside Forminit) is another POST-to-store form endpoint. MuxForms differentiates with embed rendering, mobile JSON, and unlimited forms on Pro and Team. - [MuxForms vs FormSubmit (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/formsubmit): FormSubmit is the ultra-light pattern: change your form action, get email. MuxForms is what you adopt when you need history, spam controls, apps, and more than an inbox zero workflow. - [MuxForms vs Formspark (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/formspark): Formspark is a long-running form endpoint for static sites. MuxForms offers a similar POST model with a modern inbox, embed, and mobile JSON on flat pricing. - [MuxForms vs Formtorch (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/formtorch): Formtorch is known for comparison content and a form product aimed at developers escaping submission caps. MuxForms competes as the flat-plan inbox with mobile JSON. - [MuxForms vs EmailJS (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/emailjs): EmailJS sends email from the browser using templates—not the same as storing submissions. MuxForms is a true ingest layer with inbox, spam, and native app support. - [MuxForms vs Tally (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/tally): Tally is a beloved free form builder with a hosted UI. MuxForms is for teams that need the form on their domain, in their app, and in one developer-friendly inbox. - [MuxForms vs Jotform (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/jotform): Jotform is a feature warehouse—payments, workflows, HIPAA, thousands of templates. MuxForms is deliberately narrow: contact, leads, feedback, and app JSON into one inbox. - [MuxForms vs WPForms (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/wpforms): WPForms is the polished WordPress form plugin with entries inside wp-admin. MuxForms is for agencies whose inbox must include sites that are not WordPress. - [MuxForms vs Contact Form 7 (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/contact-form-7): Contact Form 7 is free and everywhere—and infamous for mail delivery issues. MuxForms is the hosted pipe when CF7’s SMTP plugins become another maintenance chore. - [MuxForms vs Static Forms (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/static-forms): Static Forms targets the same Jamstack developer as Formspree and Web3Forms. MuxForms adds embed rendering, mobile ingest, and flat unlimited forms on Pro and Team. - [MuxForms vs Typeform (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/typeform): Use Typeform when the form is the product experience. Use MuxForms when the form should disappear into your site or app. - [MuxForms vs Netlify Forms (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/netlify-forms): Netlify Forms are convenient until the site is not on Netlify, or the app is not a site at all. - [MuxForms vs Google Forms (2026): Pricing, Limits, Features](https://www.muxforms.com/compare/google-forms): Google Forms is a spreadsheet with a UI. MuxForms is ingest for products you already branded. - [What is a form backend?](https://www.muxforms.com/guides/what-is-a-form-backend): A form backend receives HTML or JSON submissions, validates fields, stops spam, stores rows, and emails your team—without you running servers or mail code in every repo. - [How to send an HTML form to email without a backend](https://www.muxforms.com/guides/html-form-to-email-without-backend): Point your form at a hosted endpoint or embed script so submissions become email and inbox rows—no Node, PHP mail, or API route in your project. - [Contact form spam: honeypot vs Turnstile vs reCAPTCHA](https://www.muxforms.com/guides/contact-form-spam-honeypot-turnstile-recaptcha): Compare honeypot fields, Cloudflare Turnstile, and Google reCAPTCHA for public contact forms—UX, bot resistance, privacy, and what hosted backends support. - [Fixing CORS errors on form submit](https://www.muxforms.com/guides/fixing-cors-errors-form-submit): Why browser form POSTs fail with Access-Control-Allow-Origin errors, and how allowlists, embed scripts, Server Actions, and ingest secrets fix CORS on contact forms. - None are magic—pick based on volume, inbox UX, mobile apps, and how many sites you operate. - [WordPress contact form options (plugins vs hosted embed)](https://www.muxforms.com/alternatives/wordpress-contact-plugins): WordPress teams usually pick a plugin. Agencies with mixed stacks often pick a hosted backend once PHP mail breaks on the third client site. - [Static site contact forms without a backend](https://www.muxforms.com/alternatives/static-site-no-backend): Static generators cannot run PHP or Node at request time. These services receive the POST so your deploy stays a folder of files. - [EmailJS and when to use a real form backend](https://www.muxforms.com/alternatives/client-side-email): EmailJS is not interchangeable with Formspree—it sends email templates instead of owning submission history.
